Frequently asked questions
Clear answers before you choose.
Start here for HCS, TxHmL, group-home, private-funded residential and provider-transfer questions.
Who does Aba Healthcare Inc. serve?
We serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through HCS and TxHmL services and reviewed residential pathways.
Is Aba Healthcare Inc. an ABA therapy clinic?
No. Our company name does not mean applied behavior analysis. We are an IDD service and residential support provider.
Can someone inquire about a group home without being on HCS?
Yes. Private-funded residential inquiries are welcome. Acceptance depends on needs, compatibility, availability, funding and all requirements applicable to the setting.
Does TxHmL pay for a group home?
No. TxHmL serves an enrolled person living in their own or family home. HCS includes residential service options when authorized.
Which HCS residential options do families call group homes?
Families commonly use group home for residential support services or supervised living in an eligible small residence. HCS also offers host home/companion care.
Which counties do you serve?
Austin, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Matagorda, Waller and Wharton counties.
Can a family contact you directly?
Yes. Individuals, families and LARs may call us before choosing or changing a provider or while exploring a residential option.
How fast can services start?
Our goal is to respond within 24–48 hours. A start date depends on needs, authorization, planning, staffing, location, compatibility and applicable requirements.
Does turning 18 move someone ahead on the HCS interest list?
No. Adulthood alone does not create automatic eligibility or priority. Keep interest-list information current and plan other supports while waiting.
Can I change my HCS or TxHmL provider?
Yes. Provider choice belongs to the individual or LAR. The service coordinator facilitates the formal transfer process.
Can a hospital refer someone?
Hospital teams can share resources and coordinate discharge needs with consent. They do not replace eligibility, provider choice, licensing or admission review.
What should I share in the first call?
Share the county, program or funding status, general support needs, reason for contact, desired timeframe and best callback number. Do not send sensitive records through the website.
